The Crow
Canyon Archaeological Center, Colorado, USA
The Crow
Canyon Archeological Center in Cortez, Colorado, is dedicated
to understanding, teaching, and preserving the rich history of
the ancient Pueblo Indians who inhabited the canyons and mesas
of the American Southwest. It does this by offering a variety
of programs where visitors learn about archaeology in general
and about the former inhabitants of this land in particular. Visitors
assist the resident archeologists in their excavations and research
and "learn by doing." The Crow Canyon Archeological
Center also offers several traveling programs in the Southwest
and beyond. Addionally, they offer outreach programs to nearby
schools and encourage school field trips.
The Sphere
Park/Parque de Esferas hopes to encourage this type of hands-on
learning and the interest and understanding of the site that accompanies
it.
