The architecture of St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 is a rich palate of forms and details, jumbled together in a miniaturized city of tombs, tombscapes and open spaces.

This area is located in front of the east façade of the Italian Society tomb. It is defined by surrounding tombs that are over 3 tiers high, giving it a greater feeling of enclosure and spatial definition more than other open areas. The ground surface is paved, including several historic planting beds that have been filled with concrete.
