Social-Structural Determinants of Pre-term birth in Philadelphia
Summary This CDC study builds on an on-going prospective study of 2000 pregnant
women in Philadelphia who utilize public health clinics. This phase of the research
is intended to capture "neighborhood effects," including housing and social
conditions, which may help to explain differential exposure to stress and risk
of pre-term delivery among African American women. This study will use raster
and vector GIS techniques and take advantage of data collected by the Cartographic
Modeling Lab.
