Hypotheses

One of the goals of the Seminar Studio" Tierra Sajama" is to understand the Sajama Lines within their topographic, natural, and cultural context. The team is analyzing and interpreting the lines using a detailed spatial database of the Sajama region created with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The team has posited and is currently testing several hypotheses regarding the possible relationships between the Sajama Lines and astronomical phenomena, high places (such as hills and glacial mountains), and cultural features (such as cemeteries, settlements, hill-top sites, and sacred architecture).
