How to "design" a sacred landscape(?).
In making both the "warm-up" movie
with images of Bolivia and in designing
aspects of the design proposal, I found
clarity in my realization that the Tierra
Sajama landscape is magical as it is. The
Sajama lines are part of a larger living
system, part of the region's history, both
mystery and part of present day beliefs
and practices. The lines are about the procession, not the point where one begins or ends. I can say the same about this studio: it was about the journey while "on the line." No one ever said the path would be easy, but it was worth it. Although group work is challenging, this was a really great group of people to work with; their diverse strengths and comedic contributions made this journey that much better. One thing I learned that I had not expected to learn: llama is pronounced "yamma" in Spanish. (Once you learn the Spanish, you will never go back.)
