This non-traditional audit student felt very privileged to join this class in its careful examination of the wind-swept region of Mount Sajama.

This study leaves behind a modern, urban quality of life to acquire a greater knowledge of this remote corner of the world - the high, cold, semi-desert of the altiplano. We have read about the soft-spoken native inhabitants of today, and we have examined photographs of the mysterious lines of the past, set with such accuracy in this bleak, austere, harsh, and overlooked environment.

We wonder how and why.

The answers must be hidden among the fragments of yesterday. Will the gentle people that live and farm in these surroundings share their mountain and ancient lines with us?
